About this art

This is a printable version of Martin's Off Licence painting.

I painted this off‑licence the way it felt to me, not the way an off‑licence is “supposed” to look. It is almost unfairly cute. The colors are soft, the lines are friendly, and the whole building has the calm confidence of a place that has seen every kind of day. If you’ve ever had a small errand turn into a small comfort, that is the mood I wanted to keep.

I started with the roof, because it reminds me of a quilt. Those blue tiles look like they’ve collected bits of weather and sky over time. Then I tucked the warm brick underneath, so it feels solid and familiar, like an old corner you can always find again. The minty storefront frames the door and window like a gentle greeting, and I filled the window with little signs and shapes the way real shop windows are never truly empty. They are always telling you something: what’s new, what’s running out, what’s here if you need it.

The planter boxes are the detail that makes me laugh in the best way. An off‑licence with flowers out front feels like someone decided, very firmly, that practicality doesn’t have to be plain. That small act of care is what I love most about neighborhood places, and it is why I wanted to paint this one.
