This is a printable version of Corner Shop, Little Balcony painting.
I painted this small corner building because it feels like a tiny world stacked on itself. The ground floor is a cheerful shopfront with a green awning and a window full of colorful signs. Above it, the building turns quiet and private, with a small balcony and shutter-like panels that make it feel tucked away and safe.
I enjoyed balancing warm and cool tones here. Earthy browns and rosy pinks sit next to deep purples and blues, all softened by watercolor texture. The speckled washes and uneven edges are intentional. I wanted it to feel lived-in, like the building has been standing on this corner for years, watching everyday life pass by.
The small details make the scene feel real. The air-conditioning unit on the side, the narrow side door, the stacked rocks at the base, and the simple balcony rail all hint at a place that is practical and full of character. It is the kind of building you notice in passing, then remember later because it has its own personality.
