I painted this storefront because it feels like a tiny trap for curious people. You spot the “Fishy Fishy” sign first, then you slow down to read the menu board, then you start looking at all the little papers and stickers on the door. Before you know it, you are standing right in front of the entrance, already deciding what to order.
While painting, I tried to keep that feeling of discovering things one by one. I loved stacking the signs and letting the window feel busy, like there is always something happening inside. The building itself is slightly weathered, and I let the watercolor textures show through so it feels warm and lived-in, not polished. On the right side, the stairs and the open sign add a little extra story. I kept imagining someone running up and down those steps, carrying supplies, calling out to someone upstairs, keeping the place moving.
This piece is for people who like wandering, people who read every menu out of curiosity, and people who believe the best spots are often the ones you find by accident.
